RECREATIONAL COACHES
How do I reschedule a game?
If you need to cancel a game the day of the game:
Please contact the referee and cancel. If you cannot reach him/her,
they are probably already at the fields (referees are typically
scheduled for two to three games). Please go to the field, find the
referee, and personally cancel the game. Remember, if the referee is not
contacted before they go to the field, they must be paid even if the
game is not played at that time.
If you are canceling at least 24 hours before the game:
Contact the other coach as quickly as possible to allow time to
communicate with parents. The coaches list is in your coaches’ packet or
can be found on the Greater Des Moines Website (www.gdmsoccer.org)
if you know your division.
If the game was to be played at Johnston fields, cancel the field by
sending an email with the game number, date, time, and field
number to
fields@johnstonsoccer.org
Contact the referee assignor at
referees@johnstonsoccer.org
with the same information.
In order to reschedule a game:
Talk with opposing coach and find two dates and times for the
possible make-up game.
Contact the field coordinator at
fields@johnstonsoccer.org
to see if there is a site available for either of your dates/times.
Finalize date/time with field coordinator & opposing coach.
Contact the field coordinator with all the information, including the
original game number, date, time, and field number.
Referees will be assigned, but if you have a referee that you want to
ask personally, please contact him/her and send the information on to
the field coordinator. Please do this at least one week prior to the
desired reschedule date.
Please allow a minimum of 72 hours from the time you notify the field
coordinator and the time you would like to re-schedule your game.
COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
Parents who
volunteer to coach one of our teams take on a major responsibility of
educating and developing our young players. We feel that every one of
our players deserve a worthwhile soccer experience and so in turn we
introduce the expectations of our coaches in the form of this coach’s
code of conduct.
-
Coaches will primarily be motivated by the
physical / emotional well-being, development and enjoyment of
players and not by any personal desire to win.
-
Coaches will be approachable to players and will
encourage players to express their own opinions. Coaches will also
be prepared to explain their actions and decisions to players.
-
Coaches will treat players with respect and
adhere to the club philosophy.
-
Coaches will coach players by explaining
principles of the game. A coaching style that revolves around
shouting and bellowing at players is not acceptable.
-
Coaches will make every effort to be positive to
both individuals and teams. Coaches will utilize encouragement and
positive reinforcement rather than criticism where possible.
-
Coaches will attend a mandatory coaches clinic at
the beginning of each season, i.e. one in fall and one in spring.
-
All coaches will work under the guidance of the
Director of Coaching and in line with the Club curriculums and
philosophies to ensure a suitable program of learning is followed at
practices and games.
-
Coaches will refrain from questioning refereeing
decisions and if they do it will be in a respectful manner that does
not set a negative example to players.
